March 13, 2010 - Old Saybrook, CT - On Saturday, March 13, 2009, Firm President, D. Jeanne Messick, Associate Attorney Katharine S. Gillespie and Firm Administrator, Carl R. Frederick attended the first ever Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce Business Exposition. The event was held at the Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook and was well attended on a rainy and windy day. Gregory Harris To Become Of Counsel to Dzialo, Pickett & Allen, P.C.
March 17, 2010 - Middletown, CT - Effective Monday, March 29, 2009, Gregory M. Harris will leave Dzialo, Pickett & Allen, P.C. but remain Of Counsel to the firm. The firm wishes Mr. Harris well in his new endeavors and thanks him for his many years of service to the firm.
Dzialo, Pickett & Allen, P.C. Mourns The Passing Of Its Last Surviving Founding Member
March 17, 2010 - Middletown, CT - Chester Dzialo, the last surviving founding member of our firm passed away at his home in Florida on March 16, 2010. He was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Middletown, the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Stefanowicz) Dzialo. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Silver Star, the third-highest military decoration for valor in the face of the enemy. He took part in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, landing on Utah Beach.
He was a graduate of Wesleyan University, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1950, and received his law degree from Catholic University of America in 1952, where he served as associate editor of Catholic University Law Review.
He established the law firm of Dzialo, Pickett & Allen, P.C., along with State Sen. John F. Picket and Samuel N. Allen in 1964 and retired in 1990.
Chet proudly served as treasurer for the City of Middletown in 1954; was a member of the Middletown Board of Education from 1961-69; chairman, Board of Trustees, Connecticut Valley Hospital, 1961-67; vice chairman, Connecticut Board of Mental Health, 1969-72; counsel, Town of Middlefield, 1981-84; member of Middletown and Middlesex County Bar Associations (president, 1972-73); and chairman, Principal's Council, Mercy High School.
He will be sorely missed by the firm. A memorial service will be held at on Saturday, April 17, at
11 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in Middletown.
